In 1917, J. Silvaño Saucedo came to El Paso, Texas to start the El Paso Key Fitting Company. His impact as one of the first locksmiths in the area has made the Saucedo name – now a 4th generation business – synonymous with locks.
One of his sons, Edward Saucedo, branched away from his brothers to open the Edward Saucedo Company in 1956. Through Edward’s humble and well-mannered disposition, he continued to grow the company and in 1979, his son, David became a shareholder. Now called, the Edward Saucedo & Son Company, both Edward and David saw the need for more in depth inventories and led a massive renovation project which was completed in 1983. The Edward Saucedo & Son Company became, and remains, one of the largest, single source lock hardware and service providers in the area. During this period, the Edward Saucedo & Son Company experience exponential growth. At the time, they became the 3rd largest distributor of Master Lock padlocks in the world and were awarded the distinction of National Hardware Dealer of the Year by Amerock in 1985.
In 1996, David recognized that the industry was changing and led the advances for national, regional and local locksmith associations for expansion. He was also instrumental in bringing to El Paso one of the first safe lock audit trail systems for a national chain restaurant – a revolution at the time.
With the passing of Edward in 2008, David became the majority shareholder and now with the help of his sons, David and Maury, formally renamed the Edward Saucedo & Son Company to The Saucedo Company.
